What plans do Paradigm Norton have in place should a member of the team become affected by coronavirus?
Our financial planning teams are structured to provide cover for sickness with more than one team member responsible for each client to ensure continuity of service. Should your Financial Planner or Tax Manager become unwell their team will be in touch to confirm who will be looking after you in the meantime.
Should I contact my usual Financial Planner or Tax Adviser if I have a query?
Definitely, that is what we are here for. Your Financial Planner or Tax Manager remains on hand to answer any queries that you have. You can contact them directly using your preferred method (telephone or email).
Does the stock market volatility affect the stability of Paradigm Norton?
Like most businesses, we are affected by the current declines in global stock markets. However, we come into this period in a very strong position with a significant cash balance. As Financial Planners you will not be surprised to know that we have planned for and anticipated market volatility in the same way that we do for our clients. We are confident that we have the liquidity we need to take us through this period.
How will annual planning meetings be conducted in the following weeks and months?
All face to face meetings are of course suspended; however, we are using secure video conferencing facilities to enable us to carry out virtual face to face meetings. The technology allows us to display valuations and Annual Planning packs enabling a normal interactive and dynamic meeting. We will of course provide a full explanation and ‘teach in’ on how to use the technology in advance of any meeting, or as required.
Have client service levels been affected by the Coronavirus epidemic?
The short answer is no. Your Planning Team remains available to work with you. All team members are interconnected by email, telephone and video conferencing technology and have full access to all of our central support systems.

We are in regular contact with our major service providers such as the investment platforms (Transact, Standard Life, 7IM, AJ Bell & Parmenion) and our investment fund partners (including Dimensional Fund Advisors, Vanguard and Black Rock) all of whom have initiated their COVID-19 responses.
Most providers are adapting their normal processes to enable them to accept scanned copies of documents and signatures with many fast tracking the use of electronic signatures and telephone verification checks.
Your Financial Planner will explain any changes to normal practice on a client by client basis.

I have heard that there is an increase in scams and frauds; how are Paradigm Norton helping protect us in these times?
Scams take many forms so please be vigilant. Fraudsters often sound very plausible; if anyone unsolicited contacts you with something that sounds too good to be true, or saying they want to help you recover funds from, for example, a recently cancelled flight or holiday do not continue the conversation, contact the provider directly. We have provided a few useful tips below:
- Never give your bank details or passwords to anyone over the phone and never send them by email. Please verify the caller or hang up and call them back on the number you would normally use.
- Avoid using predictable and repeated passwords, even better, use a password manager such as Lastpass or Dashlane.
- Use two-factor verification wherever possible.
- Install antivirus software on all computers and laptops and keep them up to date.
- Only download apps from approved stores eg Google Play or Apple App Store.
- Don’t connect to unknown WiFi hotspots.
- Avoid phising attacks; check if the email is addressed to you and check the address it purports to have come from is genuine.
